Ode to Shoes, by ray! Subscribe to rss feed for ray!

You stand as a beacon of lighted hope
To those who know the arched craving for heels;
With height, the experienced feet can both
Blossom into glory and dare to steal
The splendor of a dimly lighted room
Like the one where she first met her sweetheart,
 Felt the earth and Venus’ orbits switching
And dreamt of life making sense really soon
 ‘Cause a girl’s shoes will always be her wings
And more addictive than a purple heart.

A pair of wedges will always be there
And a sling back stacked heel listens to you
If ever your best friend becomes Judas
And hangs your pierced heart on her stilettos,
Remember she couldn’t rock them like you
And the blood stains are on her heels, not yours;
A cause to step out in six inch splendor,
Laces to your calves change sadness into
Sweet, rubber soled laughter meant to restore -
Courtesy of your favorite foot décor.

 Shoes are patent leather inspiration
That cut a sliver of a silhouette,
Have eternal beauty as lasting as
The Sistine Chapel or Mona Lisa
My cover-all bandage for life’s bruises
And even the open heart surgeries
When the scar hurts long after the hurt heals
My shoes are there when nobody else is
Shoes are my essentials, my ABC’s
They stand the test of time – a girl’s best friend.
