This is NOTa poem: Short and crude thoughts about science and, by mealone Subscribe to rss feed for mealone

Some people or more people believe that science and religion
are different from each other and cannot be compatible with
each other. Really?
Scientists build their theory or at least laws about the
nature including human beings based on the observations.
Observations are the summary of past events. Base on the
past events, scientists find the pattern or laws and they
"believe" that the the laws drawn from the observations will
apply to the future events that scientists cannot observe
"NOW".
For example, one observer watches the sunrise for a limited
time (because of human existential condition, the man cannot
transcend the time that binds him. So, whatever he does, it
will be always in the "limited" time, not in the eternal or
infinite time)and concludes that the sun will rise again
tomorrow. Running a risk of oversimplification or
generalization, I think or more accurately saying, believe
that the scientists are the firm believers of the
repeatability of the events they observed in the past time.

On the other hand, in some part of the Bible, observations
of Jesus as God as well as human are recorded. And some
people believe that Jesus will come again.
How different? Isn't it the same logic?
As the christians need the leap of faith about God,
scientist needs the LEAP OF FAITH if he or she wants to
build the theory or the laws. What do you think? I think
what we need is the faith whether it is science or religion.
