A Little Girl, by Neseblod Subscribe to rss feed for Neseblod

A little girl looks out the window
With amusement in her eyes
She doesn't know the World yet
She hasn't heard it's lies

All she sees is blue skies
And green grass everywhere
She believes in goodness
And that the World is fair

Thirteen, but still a baby
Incusitive, naive
She has so many dreams
She has so much to give

She's got those trustful eyes
That are so oftenly wide
Those eyes, they are the door
To whatever hides inside

A little girl looks out the window
As if she still was five
So much to see, so much to learn
'Bout this capricious life

And in a tick from the yellow clock
Her life turns upside-down
Her happy laughter, her cheerful voice
Turns to an apathic frown

A man, a woman, a bloody knife
Later it's all a blur
What happened, she was never told
But she was pretty sure

A dying body on the ground
Meters from her block
She'll spend the rest of her messed-up life
Wishing she'd stopped that clock

A little girl looks out the window
With a happy smile
But in a turn, she's all grown up
And life has lost it's shine
