Home of the brave: A Villanelle, by The Irish Child Subscribe to rss feed for The Irish Child

This is the home of the brave
Where nothing can get in our way. This land
made for the damned and left for the grave

When the sun rises and falls, people will consistently
pray.
Through all the misery, all misfortune will fade away.
This is the home of the brave

On the logical side, we all know
that the Earth we call home is a place
made for the damned and left for the grave

Bombs bursting and fired shots.
Bloody battles and forget me nots.
Is this the home of the brave?

Two thousand down, drenched in their blood.
More will die in this land that is
made for the damned and left for the grave

Screams of pain they can not contain
The tears the family can not retain
This is the home of the brave
Made for the damned and left for the grave.
