my moms birthday

all these years
im 31
and all these years go by
never once have you tried
to make your daughter cry
all these years
im 31
and weeks can pass right by
and if we speak but only once
i always know you try

one day mom i'll have to grow
and be the big smart girl
but you know i'm not quite ready
i just still need to be little
with your patience and kind words
if you're lucky you might live
to see me big in 40 years
but that would make you 100
and then you'd be the little one
i can wait if you can
if you don't mind i'd like to stay
your baby just for 1 more day.
