Every night as she lay in bed, waiting to fall asleep

Ashley dreamed of things that never could be, instead of
counting sheep.

She dreamt of fairies, of mermaids, and all other creatures

With magical features.

“Ashley, sweet child, wake up from those dreams.”

Her mother’s voice would seep through the seams
