The City, by June Eclipsis

Black clouds spread
Like dark water,
running through the air.

They shield the
City beneath
From scorching flames from the sun.

But they warm the surface,
The cold being sucked dry.
Comforting to the bone.

The surface shivers
And buildings quiver
As warmth is kept within.

Safe in the darkness,
The world rests in peace.
The sun won't tire the city any longer.

The city of
My heart
Is safe.

I am unwatched,
Protected with black clouds,
Blanketing my soul with warmth.

I need to rest
For a while.
It is hard to...

It is hard to...
My eyelids feel heavy.
It is hard to always smile.

Good night.
